Here are a list of some common foods that cause teeth to stain. Keep in mind this is not an exclusive list, just a sampling of foods that stain. Generally speaking, if a food has a lot of pigment it will stain teeth (for ex., cherries). If it is something that will stain a white carpet or t-shirt, it's something that can stain your teeth. Besides strong pigments, you want to look out for food that is slightly acidic like citrus foods because they open up the pores of the tooth enamel which causes teeth to stain more easily.
